The Journey
Dear First Baptist Family,
Life is a journey...a process of traveling from one place to another. My life journey started in a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The current location of my journey is Thomasville, Georgia. Between Memphis and Thomasville my journey has taken a lot of twists and turns. I have lived in seven states, moved more than twenty times, and celebrated forty-one birthdays. Someday I will celebrate my final birthday and my journey on earth will end.
Sixteen years into my life journey I started a new journey, a God-journey, in Brownsville, Tennessee. That journey began when I trusted Jesus as my Savior and Lord and I began to follow Him, and it will end someday in heaven. So far, my journey with Jesus has taken a lot of twists and turns. At times I have fallen down, lost my bearings, and failed to follow my Leader – but He has never failed me.
How is your God-journey? This month I will be offering help for your journey from God’s Word. As we learn together about taking steps of faith, getting your bearings, and following Jesus, I hope you will walk with greater confidence and clearer direction than ever before. The daily Bible readings in this journal will guide you along the way.
I am looking forward to our Awesome August Nights with some outstanding special guests. The fifth Sunday, August 31, will be a "One Day Crusade." As we plan, pray, and invite our community to this event, I am confident that we will see many people begin their journey with Jesus on that day.
