Connect with Church
by Glenda Deese
Choosing a local church to connect with like-minded believers has been the top priority for our family with every move we have made throughout the years of George’s career with Flowers Foods. Of the six churches we have belonged to, in as many towns, all have retained a special place in our hearts. The people of God have a joy that defies the logic of the world. The peace of God to His church—believers in the Gospel—is universal. There are no bounds to His presence, power, and knowledge. Connecting to a local church for us was a natural progression in our spiritual growth.
Our present church family, First Baptist Church, has had a phenomenal and everlasting impact on our lives especially for the last thirty months. You have prayed and given words of strength, encouragement, and hope during difficult days. You have rejoiced in time of triumph and victory. Then you grieved with us upon the unexpected passing of Ty, our beloved son. Because we know as a part of the church your compassion and love for us comes from Christ, we feel completely and wholly connected. You, as our church, have demonstrated Romans 12:15—“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
Be open to ways that you can connect to the church. Those immediately before us have been spoken of often recently.
Participation in “Awesome August Nights” this month presents a perfect opportunity to extend a special invitation to a friend to connect or reconnect with the church, to hear great preaching from God’s Word, and enjoy good fellowship afterwards.
Another way to connect is to continue indefinitely with individual mission projects each of us have set for ourselves. When the needs of others are met in the name of Jesus, not only do we grow in our faith, but the body of Christ—the Church—will grow. When we all pool our resources and talents as the body of Christ—the Church—great things with eternal consequences will happen for the Kingdom of God.
